The Dual rear camera of iPhone 7 Plus brought lot of appreciation for Apple and later “Portrait Mode” based on this technology is also well applauded by fans. Now, according to a news report, the next-generation iPhone might pack an even more impressive camera. As Apple has purportedly join hands with LG Innotek to develop a smartphone camera, specifically designed for 3D photography.

Details:

This news was cited by The Korean Economic, which describes that Apple wants to enhance the photography experience of upcoming iPhone and probably wants to include 3D camera module in next generation iPhone. The news comes from sources “close to the situation” whose credentials remain undisclosed. As you might remember that LG already supplies the dual-camera module used in the current iPhone 7 Plus devices. Sources close to the situation said:

“Apple is now studying how to apply its 3D camera technology into LG Innotek’s smartphone camera, Since LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera and related technologies, such joint efforts will likely to bear fruit sometime within next year.”

With the possible use of 3D module in next generation iPhone, Apple may be aiming to bring Portrait Mode to all iPhone models next year, which would require a more compact dual-camera module.

Other Stories:

Few other rumors suggest that Apple might introduce 3 iPhone models next year as the iPhone is going to complete its 10th year in 2017 and one of these models could feature full OLED display. These are still unconfirmed stories, but, we will surely get our hands on actual details some time later.
