The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei aims to beat Apple in next two years, told by Richard Yu, chief executive of Huawei's consumer business group to Reuters, an international new agency. Huawei is currently ranked third in smartphone business, but the pace with Huawei is making progress, it is no surprise if they beat Apple, which is currently at the second spot. Huawei has made mammoth progress in last 3 to 4 years and their devices gain a lot of consumer trust.
Huawei aims for Second Spot:
Huawei has recently launched a new flagship phablet device Mate 9 along with a higher variant Mate 9 Porsche Design (limited edition). Mate 9 looks to be another stunning device and Huawei introduced a new efficient Artificially Intelligent service which automatically learns about its owner behavior and instructs the device to prioritize the apps accordingly. Huawei is definitely looking strong for number 2 candidate as expressed by Exec.
"We are going to take them (Apple) step-by-step, innovation-by-innovation," Yu said, adding that he expected to improve Huawei's position along with technology shifts. There will be more opportunities. Artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality," he said. "It is like driving a car. At every curve or turn, there is an opportunity to overtake the competition."
A Look at Third Quarter Stats:
The short conversation of Huawei executive shows that the Chinese manufacturer is all set to grab the second spot in market. The recent third quarter results have revealed that Huawei is progressing at a rapid pace and the gap between Huawei and Apple is narrowing. Huawei sold 33.6 million phones in third quarter of 2016, in the same quarter of 2015, it has sold 27.3 million units. The gap between Apple and Huawei in terms of sold units is 12 million units, which is looking significant. But currently Apple is facing a downfall in sales and revenues so Huawei’s chances are looking brighter to take over as new Number 2 candidate in smartphone business.
