Samsung Confirms Galaxy S8 will feature AI Assistant

Samsung has provided more details of new AI assistant that will feature in its next flagship smartphone Galaxy S8. Rumors of including AI based service, probably named Bixby, in Galaxy S8 were circulating last week, now Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy S8 will be powered by an AI based Digital Assistant, which will change the way people interact with Samsung mobiles.

Details:

Samsung confirmed this news in a press meeting at its Seoul headquarters, after a conversation with chiefs of VIV Labs. Lee Jae-yong, Samsung Electronics’ vice chairman stated:

“We will focus on how to provide more pleasure and convenience to users through VIV Labs’ AI solution.”

VIV Labs’ which previously co-developed Siri, Apple’s famous AI based assistant, is now working to develop a new kind of digital assistant for Galaxy S8, so Samsung fans will enjoy such intelligent service for the first time in mobiles.

Samsung Electronics’ vice chairman Rhee In-jong further added:

“We are developing a key major interface which will bring about a totally new paradigm; an open AI platform. The current Galaxy smartphones need separate applications for users, for instance, to order pizza or coffee. But, the new AI platform will enable them to order (or do) things directly without going through separate applications.”

But this digital assistant will not only bound to Samsung mobiles, instead it will be boosted in all Samsung home appliances as a step to provide new conveniences to the customers. As VIV Labs’ CEO Dag Kittlaus said.

“(The AI platform) not only will work on smartphones, but will work with home appliances that you can also interact with, in your daily lives.”

Such smart home technologies were introduced by different Tech producers like Google, Apple and Amazon. But we will have to see how Samsung going to deal with smart technology, when it will be available.

Other Features:

Galaxy S8, which is expected to unveil in MWC 2017, will feature some astonishing features as Samsung is keen to gain back its lost reputation due to ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. Previously, Samsung confirmed some other features of Galaxy S8 i.e. an Improved Camera and Slick Design. There were also rumors of 6GB RAM and 4k Display for Galaxy S8.
