Apple Unveils iPhone Duo: The First Foldable iPhone arrives with A20 Pro
A New Era of Foldables
Apple has finally revealed the iPhone Duo, marking the company's first venture into foldable smartphone design. The device is engineered to be highly pocketable while expanding into a high-productivity canvas. It features a precision-engineered hinge and is the thinnest iPhone ever when opened.
Display and Design
The iPhone Duo boasts two distinct screens. The inner display is the largest ever seen on an iPhone, offering 50% more screen area than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. For quick tasks, the 5.4-inch outer display provides about 90% of the screen area of a standard iPhone 18 Pro. The device is available in two elegant colors: Star White and Night Sky.
Performance and Durability
Under the hood, the iPhone Duo is powered by the new A20 Pro chip, ensuring top-tier performance. To support the dual-screen setup, Apple has implemented a dual-battery architecture for all-day battery life. Despite its folding nature, the device maintains an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and water up to 6 meters for 30 minutes.
Advanced Camera Capabilities
The foldable form factor enables unique photography tools. The main 48MP Fusion camera supports zero shutter lag and an optical-quality 2x Telephoto zoom, while the 48MP Ultra Wide lens handles macro shots. For video calls, Apple has included a Center Stage camera and a cutting-edge under-display FaceTime camera on the inner screen for seamless hands-free communication.
iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
To leverage the hardware, iOS 27 introduces Split View for side-by-side multitasking and an adaptive UI that reorients content as the device folds. StandBy Mode now works on both screens even without a charger. The experience is tied together by Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence, which offers onscreen awareness and a new Camera Mode that allows Siri to take actions based on what the lens sees.
Pricing and Availability
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo begin Friday, October 16, 2026, at 5 a.m. PT. While official retail pricing varies by region, Apple is offering trade-in credits from $175 to $885 for eligible iPhone 13 or newer models. Financing is also available through 12 and 24-month leasing options starting as low as $57.99 per month.
